Adelaide radio host Ali Clarke reveals devastating breast cancer diagnosis

Adelaide radio host Ali Clarke has shared a heartbreaking health update.

The Mix 102.3 host revealed she has been diagnosed "really early" with breast cancer.

On the Max and Ali in the Morning show on Tuesday, Clarke said she will be stepping back from the show and undergoing a full mastectomy this week.

"It was important to tell our listeners because I have had the privilege of them trusting me with their stories and so I trust them with mine," she shared.

"I wanted them to hear it from me, in my words and give them a chance to ask anything they want," she continued.

Clarke then acknowledged that many of her and co-host Max Burford's listeners have gone through, got some connection to, or have lost a loved one to cancer.

"Over the last few weeks, I've thought of their loss a lot," she admitted.

According to the radio star she was found to have a "lot of small little cancers" after initially believing it was "very small and manageable".

In light of her heartbreaking diagnosis, Clarke said she will be "missing for a while" from the radio show to recover and undergo a full mastectomy later in the week.

A replacement host for Clarke has not yet been announced.

While on air this morning, Clarke spoke candidly to listeners about the "emotional" weeks following her breast cancer diagnosis.

The host also talked about undergoing a necessary mastectomy, admitting the idea of it has been "much more confronting than I ever thought it will be".

"I've really battled with myself between being angry at myself for almost feeling vain about losing a part of me," she told listeners.

"But when I sit back and try to reason with it, I'm about to lose a part of me that society has forever told me actually makes me a woman," she said.

Clarke tearfully continued by sharing "the other biggest part of my brain knows that this is really what needs to happen for me to be good".

Clarke shares three children with husband Matthew Clarke, who is the ALFW Adelaide Crows Coach.

The radio host is also an ambassador for Minda, the Ovarian Cancer Challenge.
