Art teacher in US wears dress with student’s artwork on it

A good teacher inspires their class and ignites a passion for learning. They excite their pupils to be curious and more importantly for most kids, they make learning fun.

One art teacher from Texas in the US smashed the teacher game out of the park, turning up to her student’s art show wearing a dress covered in drawings from over 580 pupils.

Rebecca Bonner, 46, an art teacher at McAuliffe elementary school in Texas, told Good Morning America that she got the idea from a Facebook group of elementary art school teachers.

 "I got fabric markers and sharpies," said Bonner.

"[Then] I laid out my dress for two weeks and just let them doodle on it."

With her catchphrase being, “turn a mess up into a dress up,” Bonner saw this as an opportunity to get her students – ranging from three years to 11 years old – to “get excited about art”.

"Being their teacher dressed up in their doodles is always fun," she added.

The project went viral after Bonner’s daughter posted pictures of her mother in the dress on Twitter, writing: “My mom is the cutest art teacher ever!! She made a dress and had every one of her students draw one thing on the dress for her to wear. This was her at her student’s art show tonight. IM SOBBING [sic]”.

The post quickly racked up comments of hearts being melted across the world, with over 100k likes.

“Your mom is the type of teacher that change[s] a child’s life & they NEVER forget the positive [impact] that was poured into them,” wrote one Twitter user.

With another adding: “Your mom [sic] is a national treasure and must be protected at all costs. My art teacher is why I fell in love with the arts. Your mom [sic] is doing wonderful, I hope she knows how amazing she truly is.

Bonner took time to reply to many of the comments online, showing she really is such a ray of sunshine.

“It’s the best job ever! Love what I do every day,” she wrote.

We bet many students will want Ms Bonner to be their teacher right about now.
