Mum asked to show photo of 'too small' t-shirt when asking for refund

A mum has been asked to show photographic proof of a t-shirt being 'too small' when she tried to return the garment.

Alicia Balster bought the t-shirt from Amazon and when she contacted the retailer for a refund, she was shocked by the response.

Balster, from Montana, says she needed a refund because the shirt was too small.

"Can you take some picture for us to confirm?" the seller Meyerlbama requested in an email.

Balster couldn't believe what she was reading.

"They wanted me to send them a picture," Balster told TODAY Style.

"It was a little small on me. It's a sore subject."

The mum-of-two was angered by the seller's response, having bought many things from Amazon in the past.

But she was not impressed this time around.

"I'm not sending a perfect stranger a picture of me in a shirt that's too small.

"No, thank you!"

And to make things worse, Balster wasn't offered a refund – just a larger size for free or a refund of just 20 per cent of the purchase price.

The t-shirt in question sells for $4 - $8.

She immediately got in contact with Amazon's customer service department.

Amazon has more than 1 million small to medium business sellers based in the United States and all must comply with its 30-day return policy.

The company says it does not require customers sending in photos along with their return request.

And thanks to Balster escalating her complaint, she has now been offered a full refund.

No questions asked.
