Best Selfie: Alex Williams on playing the iconic Shane Warne in new mini-series Warnie

Australian actor Alex Williams has been making waves with his captivating portrayal of cricket legend Shane Warne in Channel 9's latest miniseries, Warnie.

Warnie airs Sunday 7.00pm and concludes Monday 7.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

Williams recently spoke to 9Honey, reflecting on past photos from his Instagram account while sharing insights into his experience playing the iconic sportsman and shedding light on some intriguing moments from his personal and professional life.

From "questionable" Instagram posts to cherished memories on set, Williams opened up about his transformative role and the excitement that comes with it.

One of the first topics of discussion was Williams' early days as an actor and a memorable photoshoot he did (pictured above).

"That was one of the first photoshoots I ever did. I just finished shooting Underground, which was a film about Julian Assange," he says.

Willams played the WikiLeaks founder in the 2012 television film Underground: The Julian Assange Story.

"That was a great experience getting to play Julian and working with Robert Connolly, who's one of Australia's greatest directors and producers," he shared.

This early project paved the way for Williams, showcasing his acting chops, particularly in the very-specific genre of two-part telemovies.

The actor has starred in many two-parters, including the upcoming Warnie, Brock, Catching Milat and INXS: Never Tear Us Apart.

"That [photo] is me and Andy Ryan on the set of INXS, which was another two-part telly movie that I did where I played Kirk Pengilly," he explains.

"That was us messing around on set."

Moving on to a nostalgic childhood photo, Williams shared a snapshot from his past, featuring a mullet hairstyle.

Laughing, he explained, "Yeah, that's me with a mullet as a kid. That's my older brother and my little brother behind me."

"That was a photo that my mum found when we were looking for photos of me when I was a kid so they could set-dress for Warnie," Williams continued.

"So it was kind of handy that I had a mullet, actually, and had a rat's tail for quite a long time in primary school, which was, I mean... hot."

The sweet image provided a glimpse into Williams' early years and added authenticity to his portrayal of Warne, who famously sported a similar hairstyle during his cricketing days.

As the interview drew to a close, Williams couldn't help but share one of his favorite shots from the set of Warnie.
