Adelaide gym accused of 'fat shaming' women in Facebook post
An Adelaide gym has been accused of ‘fat shaming’ women in a message shared on its Facebook and Instagram pages on Sunday.
HTFU Fitness Adelaide’s post, intended to create awareness for its ‘21 Day Transformation Starter Pack’ program, is accompanied by before-and-after photos of a woman’s body.
“Let me guess ladies??? Some of you feel unfit, unattractive, self conscious and worthless… especially when standing in front of the mirror naked,” the edited post begins.
“Some of you feel embarrassed & ashamed getting naked in front of your partner. Some of you are sick & tired of picking outfits that hide fat.
“Some of you want to feel comfortable in your own skin, wear your favourite outfits, feel fit, confident, attractive & sexy.”

“This gym is definitely NOT for anyone who wants to get fit while not being judged, fatshamed, boxed into the ‘unfit=unhappy’ category and probably ridiculed for not being fit,” one Facebook user wrote.
Many also took issue with the post targeting women and capitalising on their body insecurities.
“Talk about reinforcing the WORST way of looking at a woman's body,” one comment read.
