86-year-old’s Instagram is an adorable tribute to his wife

It can be easy to become cynical in the digital world, but 86-year-old Geoffrey Walker’s Instagram dedications to his wife serve as a reminder that there is still plenty of love on the internet.

Geoffrey started his Instagram as a way to keep in touch with his rapidly expanding family, and regularly posts proud pictures of his three children, five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren – each with their own caption about how much he loves them.

But the posts that have us obsessed are the pictures of Pauline, his wife of 65 years. Geoffrey’s Instagram is a beautiful dedication to the love of his life, filled with pictures of Pauline doing everything from working at her arts and crafts to enjoying a cup of tea – each posted with lovely captions with liberal use of the heart-eyes emoji.

It’s not just us sobbing gently over Geoffrey’s beautiful Instagram – when his follower Lauren Skell tweeted some of the pictures, Geoffrey and Pauline’s story became world-wide news. The tweet has gained 54k retweets and 177k likes to date.

Metro.co.uk tracked down Geoffrey and asked him about his new-found internet stardom. He seems very savvy in the ways of going viral and replied: “I don’t know about internet sensations; all will blow over in a couple days”.

Geoffrey has continued to post images of Pauline, although they are now garnering a lot more attention from adoring fans around the globe. One comment on a picture of Geoffrey and Pauline reads: “You're both so cute!!! Kisses from Argentina”.

Just in case you weren’t already sobbing over this beautiful couple, Geoffrey has even written a book about he and Pauline’s love and how they got through an 18-month separation when he was serving in the army. If this isn’t proof that true love exists, then we don’t know what is.
