A restaurant in the United States has started serving hamburgers with the optional extra of an oven-roasted tarantula.

And all of a sudden the other side of the world doesn't feel far enough away.
The Bull City Burger and Brewery in North Carolina is serving organically raised tarantulas on their burgers.
The restaurant only gets 15 of the spiders each year, so diners have to put their names on a list and hope they get chosen.
As a side-note, what does a non-organic tarantula look like? Are spider farmers pumping their arachnids with hormones?
Fried spiders are a regional delicacy in Cambodia, which started as a result of starvation during the Khmer Rouge regime.
But that doesn't explain why the most well-fed nation in the history of the world are eating them for fun.
