Here's why you need to load up your trailer properly before you start towing
If you're the sort of driver who just hurls all your junk into a trailer before you start towing it, you should probably stop doing that. Actually, you should definitely stop.
When the weight in a trailer isn't distributed just so, it makes it way more likely that even a small wobble can cause your car to spin out of control. Which is generally not going to be a fun time.
A neat little experiment to prove this was presented by U-Haul at the recent Commerical Vehicle Safety Alliance conference (which sounds thrilling) in Arkansas, and shared to Twitter by Ontario Police.
In real life, there's not going to be a helpful hand reaching down from the sky to stop a poorly loaded trailer from causing a crash…
Sidenote: playing with a miniature car on a treadmill sounds kind of fun even without the trailer attached to it.
