This steely-eyed creature has the internet confused about whether it’s a cat or a dog

When you look at this picture, what do you see?

What animal is making you feel slightly uncomfortable with those piercing, almost hellish yellow eyes?

That’s the question the internet was struggling with thanks to Twitter user @1evilidiot.

The great debate was sparked by a tweet posing the question: cat or dog?

Having been retweeted more than 12,000 times, clearly a lot of other people are confused.

Some saw a dog, some saw a cat and a few even thought this yellow-eyed creature was an owl.

Others threw out a few more creative options:

But while the sick, twisted minds of Twitter debated all they wanted, there was an answer.

The creature is actually a cat.

A Persian cat named Atchoum, to be precise.

Like many cats these days, Atchoum has his own Instagram account, Facebook page and is probably generating more wealth than a millennial with two worthless uni degrees thanks to his children’s book series and mechanise.

But unlike other cats, he has hypertrichosis – which makes him grow an excessive amount of hair.

The condition contributes to his distinct, rather wiry look, which is probably what attracted 163,000 followers to his Instagram.

And while the cat vs dog debate may still be raging on in some parts of the Twitterverse, we reckon his look is actually closer to Tom Hanks in Castaway.
