Snake found in car engine

A Sydney driver cleaning his car was left shocked to find a slithery visitor nestled in the engine.

Jamie Irwin, from the northern beaches, posted pictures of the snake, a diamond python, curled up among the engine in his car.

He said he had been washing the vehicle when he stumbled upon the creature.

However, the harmless snake got the hint, and emerged out of the bonnet before being snapped Irwin, who shared his discovery on Terrey Hills Community Facebook page.

Sydney Wildlife rescuer, Lynleigh Greig, said car engines are a common spot for the creatures to hide.

"Snakes regularly slither up into cars because they are attracted to the warmth from the engine, and they always like small, safe places where they can curl up and stay hidden." said Mrs Greig.
