Electricians totally fine with python living inside power box

Well, this might be the most Australian thing ever.

A bunch of sparkies were doing the rounds, carrying out routine maintenance on street lighting assets in Brunswick Heads when they came across this big fella.

It’s a carpet python, who had decided to shack up inside one of the control boxes.

Righto, this is Australia and this kind of thing happens from time to time.

But the best part about it is they didn’t really seem too fussed.

We mean, pythons are generally considered to be on the less dangerous end of the spectrum when you’re talking snakes.

The experts at Queensland Museum say carpet snakes are non-venomous, meaning a bite isn’t anywhere near as bad as, say, an eastern brown snake.

They say you should consider getting a tetanus shot but, generally speaking, you shouldn’t be in too bad of a state.

And that’s all well and good, but these are still snakes with teeth, so most people would be a little nervous about it.

But not this bunch.

They were laid back about the whole thing, deciding to let old mate stay put.

“He still lives there today as rat damage is common as they chew the insulation on the cables inside,” the worker told ViralHog.

“We decided to leave him there to eat the rats or deter them from building a nest inside the switchboard.”
