VIDEO: Poor guy drops engagement ring right at the worst possible moment
Yeah, this is not what you want to happen during a proposal.
Because aside from being spectacularly rejected and facing a lifetime of bitter solitude, this is probably the worst outcome from popping the question.
Seth Dixon took a knee to girlfriend Ruth Marie Salas, opening a ring box on a bridge over a pond in Kentucky, US.

And wouldn't ya know it, the little bugger of a ring fell out of the box and slipped right between two boards and into the drink below.

Also, the ring wasn't cheap.
It cost roughly $3700, which is the equivalent to one heck of a bridal buffet or a luxe honeymoon in Bali.
Gone.
Thankfully, friend Maddie Villarea was nearby filming the whole thing so the couple could watch the whole disaster over and over again.

The video has since gone viral, clocking up hundreds of thousands of views and making it to a bunch of US news broadcasts.
About 30 friends of the couple returned to the pond the next day, but after a manic diving sesh they turned up empty handed.
A GoFundMe campaign was set up to replace the $3700 ring, but it was shut down after about $325 was raised.
But while Salas has no ring on her finger, the pair are still going to tie the proverbial knot.
And Dixon has a sense of humour about the whole thing, posting this yesterday:

Perhaps they could pass the hat around at their engagement party to cover the cost of a new ring.
