VIDEO: Pony racing in pro cycling race is the hero we all needed

We guarantee you this is the best sporting vision you'll see all day, and probably all weekend.

Yep, even if your footy team wins.

It's footage of a pony taking on professional riders in the Tour de Pologne – also known as the Tour of Poland.

But we reckon it could be called the Tour de Pony, or at least prompt the creation of a documentary seriously charting a cycling-mad pony's attempt to make it big on the road.

This little guy, who is only a couple of hands high, decided to have a crack at the race, which was heading through Zakopane at the time.

Riders had about 104km to go in the race, and were hopefully inspired by this daring sporting feat from a guy who could never make it on a horse racing track. 

Despite nearly toppling over when cornering a bend, the pony managed to keep up with the pace and won over the crowd.

The cyclists eventually appeared to peel off to a side street, but that didn't stop the hoofed legend from scoring a place in the overall tally:

Ride on, little legend.
