$6,500 double fireplace transforms home on renovation show One Of A Kind

In one renovation, she took on the task of renovating Lauren and Robbie Findley's house in the city of Fort Worth in Texas, America.
Grace was very excited as she toured the Findley's home and found many areas for improvement. 9Now
After getting to know the family, a key theme Grace wanted to incorporate into the space was one of hope. This came after hearing that Lauren and Robbie's four-year-old son Ethan had recently overcome major health setbacks.

"We looked at each other and we just said, 'four-year-olds don't have strokes'. He lost 80 per cent of his motor skills in his right half of his body. We never found the cause of the stroke but even the doctors are thinking he's a miraculous healer," Robbie explained.

"Hope is so important to us. It is what helped us to get through all of the hard days," Lauren added.
The couple also found their living space to be dark, and wanted to open it up and make it brighter.
Grace got to work on the renovations which were to be completed in just seven weeks, with a budget of $150,000 (all amounts in this article are in USD). The results were incredible, and parts of the renovation were not what you'd typically expect.

An astonishing $6,500 was spent transforming a non-working fireplace into an elevated, double-sided working fireplace, which changed the feel of the space and added warmth into both the living and dining space, while also being viewable from the kitchen.

In addition, a quirky feature was added to the fireplace wall, with a mix of coloured plates glued to the wall around it.
Grace noted that the family wanted the home to feel welcoming in the sense that anyone could come in and grab a plate, and literally brought the vision to life on their wall.

Many walls were also knocked out to make the space feel much more open — including the space to the side of the fireplace and the wall between the kitchen and dining rooms.

To capitalise on the 'hope' theme, a sign reading 'hope' was added to the walls, and wallpaper featuring swallows — which is another symbol of hope — were placed on the ceilings.
"I love the hope. That makes me cry, it's so beautiful. It's just such a beautiful tie in that we will always be able to point back to," Lauren said.

The family was thrilled and pointed out how they loved the colours used throughout the space, including the blue which featured in the kitchen.
