Let's take a minute to acknowledge the founder of nostril hair extensions

Dannielle Maguire

Righto guys, we've reached an interesting time for humanity.

On one hand we've got Golden Gaytime ice cream in tub-form and on the other hand we have… nose hair extensions.

But don't fret about the dark future of mankind, this isn't really a "trend"… at least, not yet.

It is being traced back to Instagrammer @gret_chen_chen, who is some kind of gosh darn genius.

She shot to the dizzying heights of internet fame after posting this glorious photo of nostril extensions late last week:

It was just a few eyelash extensions, but it went global.

She made it to Ladbible – obvs – fashion mastheads like InStyle heck, even the BBC featured a yarn about her.

She even prompted a few copycats:

But no, this isn't some kind of crazy trend the young girls are trying these days.

This is obviously a joke.

Yesterday, @gret_chen_chen took to Instagram to address the hype.

"I didn't expect my nose hair can become a thing, thanks for everyone who likes it," she said.

"I'm not beauty specialist, perhaps I'll never put something related to beauty any more.... but still I'd like to share my works with you guys."

And she used her fame to promote her latest venture: blanket swimwear.

So while you may not see any more beauty tips from her, we reckon she probs deserves a follow.

Because while she might not be a crafting herself as beauty influencer, she's certainly got a style we can get behind:

But even if this trend was a thing, we couldn't say it was the weirdest.

Earlier this year, people like Esther Gbudje went viral for using boiled eggs to apply makeup.
