PM awed by footy player's magnificent mullet

Scott Morrison was hoping to win over a clutch of undecided voters in the crucial swing seat of Bass on Tuesday night.

But it was reluctant local celebrity Jarrad "J Rod" Cirkel who really stole the show.

Mr Morrison zeroed in on the Parrots stalwart and his seven-year locks with a compliment - and an implicit challenge to Australia's other mullet-wearers.

"That has the PM's endorsement as the best mullet I have seen," Mr Morrison told the lanky footy player.
