Labradors have taken out the American Kennel Club’s top dog spot
Labradors have been crowned the top dog to the US for the second year running.
According to the American Kennel Club, the lovable labs were the most popular dog of 2017.
But before we go any further, we’re going to emphasise that popularity doesn’t equal superiority.
If you were ranking all breeds on the good dog scale, they’d all be sharing the top spot.
But it seems that labs are the go-to dogs for families in the US.

“The Labrador retriever has its paws firmly planted in Americans’ hearts,” club executive secretary Gina DiNardo said.
The very important dog news broke on Thursday, with DiNardo making the grand reveal on Good Morning America.
But even though the sweet woofers have every right to enjoy their double victory, they may need to watch their backs.
“The French bulldog is poised for a takeover,” DiNardo said.
“It’s such a versatile and family friendly breed.
“Don’t underestimate the power of the Frenchie.”
Frenchies came in fourth in the ranking, up two places from sixth last year.
Apparently, 2018 might just be their year.
