Watch some dude flip a monster truck and make history

Prepare to care about monster trucks for about 40 seconds more than you thought you would this Monday morning.

Apparently there is an actual competition to crown the best monster truck driver on the planet, and something huuuuge happened at this year's tournament.

The 18^th Monster Jam World Finals were held in, you guessed it, Las Vegas yesterday and the event saw a first: the only truck to ever front flip coming off the back wheels. 

Lee O'Donnell, AKA the VP Racing Fuels Mad Scientist, was crowned Freestyle Champion after pulling off this somersault coming out of a wheelie and people lost their collective minds.

Footage of the trick was uploaded to YouTube by MonsterJamFilms just a few hours ago, and it has already clocked up nearly 5,000 views.

"I was watching this on a Facebook stream as it was happening. I'm not kidding or exaggerating, I sat in my chair with my mouth wide open and my hands on my face for almost a minute after that happened," YouTuber MONSTERJAMFAN said.

"It was like that painting The Scream only less artsy."

Apparently it was a first for the Monster Jam tournament, with Tom Meents giving it a crack in 2015.

Unfortunately he didn't qualify for the world record because he continued rotating instead of coming to a complete stop after completing the flip.

So this, dear friends, is history.
