Two elderly men bust out of nursing home to go to heavy metal festival

Two elderly men who were reported missing from their nursing home had apparently sneaked out of the facility to rock out a heavy metal music festival in Germany.

According to a yarn from Germany’s NDR, a nursing home in Dithmarschen had noticed two residents were missing.

Now, their story is going viral, doing the round on German media before appearing on sites such as Tone Deaf.

Because it turns out the pair had ditched the squares at the home and gunned it for Wacken Open Air Festival, about half an hour’s drive away.

It was a pretty hardcore festival, with bands such as Cannibal Corpse, Die From Sorrow and Centuries of Decay on the lineup.

Police spokeswoman Merle Neufeld said the pair met police outside the festival at about 3pm.

“They had obviously liked the metal festival,” she told NDR, in a statement we use Google Translate to interpret.

“However, the two seemed disoriented and apathetic.”

Their nursing home arranged a taxi to ferry the metal heads back.

But police, sensing the men’s reluctance to leave, sent a patrol car to follow the taxi to make sure there were no mishaps.

Sure, it wasn’t the outcome they were hoping for, but getting a police escort back to a nursing home is pretty badarse.
