A spokesperson said the sheep was “jumping from an adjacent crag” just before the accident occurred.

A rescue team of 17 was called to the scene, with the lad being stretched off the mountain.

He was assessed for a range head, neck, back, abdominal and leg injuries and transported to hospital.

He’s since been discharged, reports indicate.

As for the sheep?

“We believe the sheep was uninjured and left the area unaided,” a rescue team spokesperson said.

Obviously, there were many, many sheep puns – most too cringe-worthy to repeat.
