A bunch of geniuses made a working Bugatti Chiron out of Lego pieces

So a sports car made entire from Lego pieces exists – and it actually works.

Lego designer Aurelien Rouffiange and the team had created a 1:8 scale model of a Bugatti Chiron, which was pretty cool in itself.

But then they wondered what they could do next.

And, of course, the most logical step forward was making the real thing… entirely out of Lego.

A team of 16 specialists got together at the Lego facility in Kladno, Czech Republic, pooling their design, mechanical and electrical expertise.

Piece by piece they built the car – a process that took more than 13,000 hours.

And when we say piece by piece, we mean it.

They used more than a million bricks, without a single drop of glue.

The final product was a 1.5 tonne beauty of a car, with the power of 2304 Lego Power Function motors under the hood.

Once it was completed, the team took the car to the Ehra Lessien test track in Germany and got Bugatti’s official test driver Andy Wallace to hop behind the wheel.

Lego documented the whole process pretty well, even creating a podcast about the project.

Now we’re just hoping they launch their own racing league for vehicles made entirely out of Lego.
