Every single person out there knows one thing: Dating can be hard.

With the invention of dating apps, it's supposedly never been easier to meet a partner. But a quick scroll on those apps, it's clear they are full of time-wasters and unavailable people searching only for superficial needs.

In the new Stan Original Dating Series Love Triangle, a group of six singles are challenged relinquish their grasp on what they think their perfect partner should look like, and instead choose someone, sight unseen, based on a deeper connection.

"But the concept of Love Triangle was just was just interesting to me. I couldn't go on a show like The Bachelor where you have to compete for love. I'm like, 'No, put me with someone and they have to stick with me'," she added.

Single for 10 years, 32-year-old Lisa's last serious relationship ended when she was 23. She doesn't have time to waste on people who do not share the same relationship goals as her – children and marriage.

"Tinder, Bumble, Hinge. I've been on them all," Lisa admitted. "I feel like with Tinder there's that stigma that it's just all about hooking up."

Forthright, funny, and honest, Lisa has a love-hate relationship with modern dating. She's picky and prefers to meet in person. She also seeks a partner who shares her values and is a good communicator — and a strong sex drive is also a must!

"So a friend actually tagged me on a Facebook post about [Love Triangle] but at the time I was dating someone," she explained.

"But with modern dating, comes dating multiple people. You shouldn't keep all your eggs in one basket. And my girlfriend was like, 'Keep going with the application process because this guy could screw you over,' and low behold he did screw me over."

Ly is a 28-year-old funny, petite, playful pocket rocket – a ray of sunshine. Spending her days as a counsellor listening to others' relationship problems, Ly wants someone to come home to and share her days with — a partner who is also her best friend.

Having only ever dated Asian guys, Ly, who is Vietnamese-Australian, is open to the process of being paired with someone new, but she knows it will be a challenge to step outside of her comfort zone.

"We live in a world where it's so easy to replace one person with another person and get tempted to the same biases," she said.

"So it's good to have this experience where you want to test that and commit. And you can commit and see it all the way through.

"I think I just want a best friend who makes me feel excited. Someone who complements me well, and someone I feel proud of to introduce to my family and friends".

Madi, Lisa, Ly and three single men will each be matched with two potential partners.

The rules of Love Triangle are they are be able to text and call their potential matches as they get to know each other, but they, along with the audience, won't discover what the other looks like until they make their choice, and go on their first blind date.

Everything hangs on this decision – will they like what they see when they first meet? And if they don't, can they overcome a lack of attraction to form a genuine connection?

"I was surprised at, again, how much of a great time I had. I've learned a lot of strength and self worth. I'm not tolerating anyone's bullshit anymore. I think I've learned a lot. I've come out of very stronger person from it," she said.

"I would watch [reality TV] and yell at the TV. You've been in a relationship for a minute, how can this be moving so quickly?'

"And now I'm going, 'Oh, my god. It moves so quickly.' Your relationship, everything builds so quickly. I'm the idiot, I make fun of on TV."

Ly echoed Madi's sentiment and said, "I just wanted to enjoy the experience. I went for it and I tried to put my best foot forward. Tried to be as open and vulnerable as I can. Be as respectful as I can. Yeah, it was a wild experience and I'm so glad I did it".

Lisa explained that the entire process is like a "pressure cooker environment".

"I feel like I've never cried and laughed so much in my entire life, but in the real world, I would never cry as much," she said.

The first two episodes of the Stan Original dating series Love Triangle will premiere 6 October, only on Stan.
