VIDEO: King cobra and python fight on Singapore jungle path

Bushwalkers on a nature trail near the MacRitchie Reservoir in Singapore were confronted by two of the jungle’s biggest snakes locked in a battle for survival – a king cobra and a reticulated python.

Local Sheldon Trollope caught the fight on video.

The footage shows the reticulated python rearing up, and using its body to muscle its opponent away.

The king cobra deals a blow of its own, biting the python, before retreating back into the shrubs as its rival retaliates with open jaws.

According to the Straits Times, reticulated pythons are quite common in the region this video was filmed, but sightings of king cobras are a lot more Straits Times.

King cobras are known to feed on other snakes, even those as big as reticulated pythons, which can grow to 6.5 metres long.
