Kat Dennings discusses her 'genius' cat's secret talent

Two Broke Girls actress Kat Dennings made a virtual appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to discuss her new show WandaVision, but the conversation with talk show host Ellen DeGeneres got off to an unusual start when the actress began to talk about her "genius" pet cat, Millie.

"I don't know if anyone else's pets are in heaven [over quarantine]," she queried, "but I never leave so she just can't believe how great her life is. She's going to turn eight in April, my littlest noodle."

DeGeneres said she heard Dennings had started to brush the cat's teeth during lockdown, and asked how that would work, especially given that most cats are notoriously uninterested in following rules.

"If you see, my child is a genius, and she brushes her own teeth. I'm running out of things to clean my house," Dennings revealed as she watched a clip of the cat brushing its teeth (which you can see in the video above).

"There's nothing on the toothbrush, it's just cat toothpaste. I mean, it is salmon-flavoured, so maybe that's it," Dennings revealed when DeGeneres marvelled at how the cat was so enthusiastic about brushing its own teeth.

"OK well maybe the cat isn't a genius, it's just starving and is getting anything it can off that toothbrush," DeGeneres laughed.

Dennings said she loved Millie the cat so much that she wants to adopt another rescue pet, but worried that either the new addition will upset Millie, or the two cats would become so close that they would begin to "ignore" the actress.

However, she has come up with an alternative option.

"I'm open to anything. I've looked up domesticated foxes. That's a whole other can of... foxes," she laughed.

"There are rescue foxes! I've seen them!" she responded when DeGeneres looked sceptical about the idea. "Don't get any ideas though, I had this idea first. Don't you get a fox before me, Ellen," she added.

Later on in the conversation, the 34-year-old actress opened up about starring in the new series WandaVision, and admitted she has to remain very quiet about her role in the series.

During the interview, DeGeneres revealed to Dennings that Stephen "tWitch" Boss, the show's DJ, is a big fan of the show, which is a spin-off of Elizabeth Olsen's character Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch.

"I love it," he told the Dennings, who reprised her role of Darcy Lewis from the first two Thor films in the show.

"It's taking everything in me not to just ask you 1,000 questions about everything that's going on. I know you can't really say anything, but I love it," he continued as Dennings smiled and thanked him.

"You know, [Marvel] sends us a thing of what we can't say, instead of what we can say," Dennings replied to tWitch, admitting that there are several things about the show she simply can't discuss.
