VIDEO: This kangaroo just really loves a good cuddle

Dannielle Maguire

Sometimes you just really need to see a grown man cuddle a kangaroo.

It sounds like a very specific need, but it's one we didn't realise we had to fill until we came across this video.

It's a clip of top bloke Chris 'Brolga' Barnes and Abi, the kangaroo who really loves a good cuddle.

"I rescued Abi as a tiny orphan baby about 11 years ago," Barnes says.

"Abi has always loved hugs.

"She is such a sweet and beautiful kangaroo."

Barnes runs The Kangaroo Sanctuary out of Alice Springs, which is essentially the greatest job in the world.

He gets to encounter cuteness like this every day:

And good lord just stop, we're getting a cavity from all this:

The sanctuary rescues orphaned joeys, rehabilitates them and releases them back into the wild.

But sometimes there are roos, like Abi, who can't go back into the great wide outback.

So they are able to hop about the massive 188 acre sanctuary, which is big enough to feel like the wild but still provides the protection and care they need.

And while this is all well and good for the roos, we reckon Barnes gets just as much benefit from it as the roos.

"Animal hugs are the best," he says.

"They really hug unconditionally."
