But this hippo was not about to be tagged in photos it might look ugly in.

The pair assumed the hippo was rushing towards them to attack them, but we reckon it was more along the lines of "OMG delete that".

Video of the confrontation was uploaded to YouTube by the Kruger National Park channel yesterday and has since clocked up more than 15,000 views.

"In times of drought, hippos can become quite stressed and as a result becomes more aggressive," a park staffer said on YouTube.

And you know what's stressful?

The possibility an unflattering picture of you coming up on your newsfeed.

And you don't want to make a hippo grumpy.

"They are remarkably fast and with powerful jaws can easily open up a car's protective metal 'like a can of beans'," we're told.

And we're guessing by "can of beans", they're not referring to kind that you have to fiddle around with a can opener for, but the easy-lift ring-pull tins.

These two could have been tourists on toast.

After a few tense moments the tourists, who had remained remarkably calm, were able to drive away.
