Most of us have attended a goldfish funeral at some point in our lives.

They're short but sombre events, usually involving the solemn flushing of toilet.

Often they're quite underwhelming.

So why have six million people watched the funeral of Dave, a goldfish who was taken too soon?

The celebration of Dave's life was filmed by his owner, Arran Uzsoy, a bloke from Worksop, England.

In a string of Snapchat videos posted to Facebook, Uzsoy documents what seems to be a sorrowful procession after finding his mate floating on his side in the murky waters of his bowl.

But the moving burial at sea didn't go to plan.

An opportunistic, heartless sod of a duck decided to take advantage of the situation.

The quacker swooped in, causing heartbreak for the grieving pet owner and creating viral gold.

The clip has since been shared and re-shared, touching just people in all four corners of the internet.

But while we may think it is funny, let's spare a thought for the friends and family of Dave. 

As well as going through the trauma of losing a pet, Uzsoy now also has to live with the knowledge that his beloved Dave is going to become duck poo.
