Safari park launches investigation after car window shatters on giraffe’s head

A safari park in England is investigating after a video of a glass window smashing on a giraffe’s head went viral this week.

It happened at West Midland Safari Park, where visitors can feed unusual animals from the comfort of their cars – kind of like a drive-thru zoo.

It’s unclear whether the giraffe’s long tongue hit the electric window button or if the passenger raised the window.

The window began to close, with the glass rising until it shattered on the giraffe’s head.

Video of this explosive encounter was filmed by another visitor to the park and posted to the MoMedia YouTube channel on Sunday.

By Tuesday morning, the clip had been viewed more than 150,000 times.

Of course, people were concerned about the poor giraffe, named Strider, who was on the receiving end of quite a fright.

“The giraffe was perfectly fine,” the driver told 9Pickle.

“I honked the horn for the keepers to come over.

“I pointed out the giraffe and they used food as bait to get a closer look.

“They were happy that it wasn’t hurt and let it be.”

As we learned from a yarn from UK television network ITV, the park has launched an investigation into the incident.

A park spokesperson said Strider had “sustained no injuries from the glass”.
