Getting hit in the face with a ball at 28,000 frames per second

Hitting someone in the face with a ball has never been so memorising.

Sure, it's always been satisfying and glorious, but the latest video from the The Slow Mo Guys makes it that much better.

Roughly six years ago Gavin Free hit Dan Gruchy in the face with a ball and filmed it in slow motion, giving us the iconic Football to the Face.

That experiment resulted in great stills like this:

But thanks to newfangled technology, the boys have been able to capture all the face-rippling magic in even slower motion than before.

With a powerful camera, they were able to recreate Football to the Face 20 times slower than before – 1120 times slower than real time.

Watching the way everything is displaced, it kind of demonstrates why copping a Falcon can hurt so much.

It's actually kind of beautiful to watch.

If you were going to look at it from an artistic point of view, you could say each frame is a snapshot of the malleability of the human form, and our ever changing nature.

You could say it depicts the inherent vulnerability of life.

You could say it was a statement how, despite our differences, humanity is united in our responses to pain.

Or you could just look at the video and think it's really cool.

Which it is.
