German man calls police after being ‘chased’ by a baby squirrel

German police have come to the rescue of a man was apparently being 'chased' by a baby squirrel.

Yes, you read correctly.

This brilliant story comes to us from police in Karlsruhe, Germany, who out the most delightful press release late last week.

The man, who has not been identified, called police on Thursday night asking for help.

“The officials did not hesitate long and sent a patrol… to investigate the matter,” police spokesperson Christina Krenz said.

“The police there met the man being persecuted by the stubborn little creature.”

Officers brought the little trouble maker back to the station, keeping him in lock up for the night.

But rather than placing him in a cell, they put him in a carboard box.

According to reports, the offender’s name was Karl-Friedrich… a name he was given by the officers who apparently fell for the little fella.

Snippets from the official police report published online are bloody adorable, featuring observations that “the squirrel has fallen asleep”.

Further updates from the Karlsruhe Police indicate the little fella is “doing well”.

He’s now in the custody of an animal rescue centre.
