“It is with profound sadness that San Portablo and the Locke family write of the passing of the father, son, brother, uncle, friend, skater, stuntman and all-round goodfella Michael Richard Locke,” they wrote.

“Affectionately known as Pancho to the world, an absolute Welsh Treasure and San Portablo King.

“Rest In Peace brother, your legend will never cease, it will only gain momentum.”

No official cause of death has been announced.

Locke shot to fame on the Welsh series Dirty Sanchez. Known for extreme stunts, pranks, and challenges, the show built a dedicated following and drew comparisons to the US hit Jackass.

It went on to air in 64 countries and spawned several spin-offs before wrapping in 2008, including the 2006 film Dirty Sanchez: The Movie.

He starred alongside Matthew Pritchard, Lee Dainton, and Dan Joyce when the MTV series debuted in 2003.

Pritchard, who is currently climbing Mount Everest, said he would dedicate his journey to base camp to his longtime friend.

“I’m still a little bit in shock,” he said.

“My little friend of more than 35 years has left the building. We’ve had some amazing laughs together over the years. I’ve known him since he was about 14 years old.”

Dainton also shared memories of their years skating together.

“When you grow up skating with your friends, you’re in your own little world,” he said in his Instagram tribute.

“Since hearing the news all those memories have been flooding back. I can see Panch, hear the laughter and remember all the best times like it was yesterday. Then it hits me that he’s gone and I still can’t believe it.
