Zac Efron finally spotted in Byron Bay after weeks of speculation

Almost two weeks after it was reported that Zac Efron was secretly living in Byron Bay amid the coronavirus pandemic, the Hollywood actor has been spotted out and about in the NSW coastal town.

The 32-year-old High School Musical star was photographed at a local cafe interacting with one of its employees.

It was at this same cafe that the Baywatch actor was first noticed last month.

On June 18, Instagram user Tarsha Whitmore shared a photo and wrote, "Don't mean to alarm anyone but Zac Efron was literally eating at the same cafe as me when this was taken."

And on June 16, someone tweeted that their sister saw the actor in Byron Bay.

Byron Bay is a hotspot for A-listers, including Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky who have a home there.

Efron was last photographed in Los Angeles in late January. In April, his High School Musical co-stars reunited via video link for a rendition of their hit song 'We're All In This Together' but Efron was unavailable due to "bad wifi".

It's possible Efron was already in Australia when the borders were closed. As of today, Australia has had 7920 confirmed cases of COVID-19, while the US has had 2.74 million.

Efron has visited Australia many times. He was confirmed to be Down Under in December, when he was flown to Brisbane for medical attention. He said he got an infection while filming a TV show called Down to Earth with Zac Efron in Papua New Guinea.

"I did get sick in Papua New Guinea but I bounced back quick and finished an amazing three weeks in P.N.G," he later shared on Instagram.

The actor is currently dating American actress Halston Sage, 27.

Though it's not known when they started dating, the pair have been friends since 2014, when they were photographed together courtside at a basketball game.

An insider told Us Weekly in January 2020, the two "are in a serious relationship and in love. They spent the holidays together, with part of that time in Santa Barbara."
