Wells Adams' proposal plans were almost spoiled by airport security

Wells Adams' plans to propose to Sarah Hyland were almost disrupted by airport security after he got pulled aside for hiding the engagement ring in a drone.

Earlier this year, The Bachelorette US alum hid the ring in their luggage in the hopes of surprising Hyland on their Fiji getaway.

"I hid [the engagement ring] in my drone case and then when I flew into Fiji — if you have a drone, and they see it in the X-ray, they inspect it," Adams told Us Weekly.

"I was really scared that they were going to open the drone case and she was going to see the box that said LS [for Lorraine Schwartz] and it was going to be over."

Customs told Wells that they needed to take a closer look at the drone, and the TV star asked if they could enter a room for an inspection.

"Which I'm sure is, like, not what you're supposed to say to somebody that's about to check your stuff," Adams told Us. "And when we got in there, I was like, 'Hey, man, there's an engagement ring in there, play it cool'… There was a moment where I was like, 'Am I going to do this in the, like, Fijian customs?'"

Wells successfully proposed to Hyland in a touching beachside proposal in Fiji.

"That can't eat, can't sleep, reach for the stars, over the fence, world series kind of stuff," Hyland wrote alongside a snap of their proposal on July 17.

The couple memorably flirted with each other on Twitter as far back as 2016, the same year he appeared on The Bachelorette US.

In October 2017, they publicly confirmed their romance by stepping out together in coordinating Stranger Things-themed costumes for Halloween.
