What happened to the original cast of Twister, and who's in the sequel
Between terrifying tornadoes and flying cows, Twister had '90s audiences on the edge of their seats.
Starring the likes of Bill Paxton, Helen Hunt and Philip Seymour Hoffman, the 1996 action flick has cemented itself as a classic of cinema
Decades later, the movie has been given new life with a 2024 reboot called Twisters, starring Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones.
Read on to take a stroll down memory lane and see what the old cast is up to today – plus who is in the reboot.
Bill Paxton as Bill Harding: Then
Bill Paxton starred as leading man and former storm chaser Bill Harding in the original Twister movie.
Bill Paxton (1955-2017)
Bill Paxton had already made a name for himself in some major blockbusters before he signed on to do Twister in 1996.
Paxton starred in Aliens in 1986 – which is also getting a reboot film in 2024.
The Hollywood star also had a leading role in Apollo 13 alongside Tom Hanks, and appeared in Titanic, Tombstone and other hit films way into the 2010s.
Sadly, in 2017 Paxton died at aged 61.
The actor was survived by his wife Louise and their children James and Lydia.
After news of his death, Paxton's Twister co-star Helen Hunt shared a tribute to X (formerly Twitter).
"He made this movie great – he acted his heart out. What a talented man. My thoughts are with his family," she wrote.
While Paxton wasn't alive to see the Twisters reboot film in 2024, his son James honoured his father with a special cameo in the action flick.
The actor sweetly said he "did this one for Dad" after having a small part as Cody around the halfway mark of the blockbuster.
"I wanted to be a conduit for his spirit there and cheer everyone in this production on to success because I know he would be," the 30-year-old told Entertainment Weekly.
"I wanted to do something that really honors his presence in this new chapter and really do something for him."

Before taking home an Oscar in 1998 for best actress in As Good As It Gets, Helen Hunt got her star in the 70s with a role in Pioneer Woman.
From there she continued acting in movies and shows throughout the '80s, including Project X and Next of Kin.
In 1996 she starred as a leading lady in Twister – a movie she says holds up today due to director Jan de Bont's work and the casting.
"There's all sorts of wonderful elements, but [de Bont] chose them all," Hunt told Entertainment Weekly.
"He chose really good theater actors – classically trained actors with a sense of humor – not lightweights. Everybody was these good, solid actors."
