The Bachelor Australia: Survivor cast reacts to Locky Gilbert being cast as the next Bachelor

In last night's episode of Australian Survivor: All Stars, Locky Gilbert was voted out by his tribe.

Today, he was cast as the next Bachelor Australia for 2020.

Since the news surfaced that the 30-year-old adventure guide would be appearing on the dating show, his Survivor co-stars have voiced some feelings.

Former Survivor rival and rugby player Mat Rogers appeared on hit 90.9 Gold Coast's Breakfast with Lise, Sarah, Dan & Ben this morning, where he suggested Locky was only in it for the money.

When the hosts asked Mat if he believed Locky had the right intentions, he responded: "There's probably a lot of reasons [he's going on the show], and they're all dollars."

The announcement also comes on the heels of Locky appearing to be romantically involved with Survivor co-star Brooke Jowett.

Brooke hasn't been quiet over the revelation, responding on Twitter with a GIF of The Simpsons character Millhouse playing alone.

"Me as of today," she wrote.

Felicity 'Flick' Egginton also chimed on the official Instagram announcement, saying the Bachelor casting was "the biggest blindside yet!!" and tagging Brooke in the post.

Brooke replied: "Definitely. Even bigger than Season 1... and that's real big."

Shonee Fairfax was also surprised to hear the news, writing: "Now that was a blindside!!!"

Locky quashed speculation he was dating Brooke on The Kyle & Jackie 'O' Show this morning, claiming she "really helped in the game."

"The show… You want to have a person you can fully trust, if you don't, you'll lose your mind," he explained.

"Me and Brooke connected, we had lots to talk about, so that really helped me in the game."

Unlike previous Bachelor seasons where the suitor's identity has been leaked, fans were taken aback by the realisation the Survivor star was on a quest for love.

Other social media commentators reiterated the Survivor cast's sentiment that the casting was extremely out of the blue — and the true definition of a 'blindside'.

The Bachelor host Osher Günsberg confirmed the news this morning with a social media post.

"I'm thrilled to announce that your Bachelor for 2020 is successful CEO, Cave Diver, Mountaineer, Skydiver and occasional visitor to Fiji, @locklangilbert," he wrote.

"Tag a mate that needs to know this important information. I've never got to make eight seasons of anything. What a way to break a record! Bring on season 8 of #thebachelorau."
