'What does it mean?': Why Taylor Swift fans are in a frenzy right now

Nothing is ever a coincidence when it comes to Taylor Swift.

The pop star is a mastermind when it comes to leaving clues – or 'Easter eggs' as she affectionately calls them – about her upcoming projects.

In the past Swift has dropped hints through subtle details in her music videos to cryptic social media captions. Now fans thinks there's a message in her new wardrobe.

There has been one unmissable detail tying together several of Swift's latest looks. She's wearing lots of plaid – and fans have definitely noticed.

"The plaid theme in Taylor's wardrobe lately is DEFINITELY an easter egg, right?!?" one fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Most recently she made an appearance at the Kansas City Chiefs home game on Monday October 7 wearing a Vivienne Westwood skirt set in the pattern.

"Listen, I'm not saying it means anything, but she has been wearing a lot of plaid lately..." one person noted along with a side-eye emoji.

"TAYLOR ALISON SWIFT IS WEARING PLAID AGAIN THIS IS NOT A DRILL," someone else wrote.

Another asked the question on all Swiftie's minds right now: "What does it mean"?

While the singer has worn the pattern in the past, this latest trend started a couple of months ago when Swift stepped out in a plaid suit in London.

In August the singer was pictured leaving her Eras Tour wrap party in London wearing a suit once again by designer Vivienne Westwood.

On September 12 she attended the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards on September 12 wearing a yellow and black gingham-print look by Dior.

Then just a couple of weeks ago she was spotted enjoying a girls night out in New York City with close friend, model Gigi Hadid, wearing a plaid-patterned mini skirt.

Swift previously appeared to tease the neutral aesthetic of her 11th studio album The Tortured Poets Department through her street style, months in advance of its release.

So could Swift in-fact be teasing her 12th studio album?

Or does she just love plaid?

I guess, like with all her previous Easter eggs, we'll just have to anxiously wait to find out.
