Taylor Swift returns to stage for the first time since Vienna shows were cancelled

Taylor Swift has made a triumphant return to the stage in London following the cancellation of her concerts in Vienna after police discovered a terror attack plot.

Swift, 34, took to the Wembley Stadium stage for the latest of her Eras Tour on Thursday, saying it was a "delight and a thrill" to be performing the approximately 90,000 fans gathered.

The singer didn't address the terror plot that had targeted one of her shows in Austria.

The pop star was joined by Ed Sheeran for an acoustic set including Everything Has Changed from her Red album, on which Sheeran is a featured artist.

They also performed Endgame, their collaboration from her Reputation album, and sang Sheeran's hit Thinking Out Loud.

Swift performed in Warsaw, Poland at the start of August before travelling to Vienna for three planned shows.

These were cancelled when Austrian authorities said they had discovered an apparent terror plot targeting the event.

Three teenagers have been detained in connection with the investigation.

Thursday's concert is the first of five shows she will be performing at Wembley Stadium, her final European tour stop.

Swift will then head back North America for an almost three-month break before her next scheduled performance in Toronto, Canada at Rogers Centre on November 14.

The band Paramore opened for Swift at Thursday's concert with supporting opening act Sofia Isella.

Paramore was set to open for Swift at her three cancelled Vienna shows. Neither Swift or Paramore mentioned the thwarted terror plot.

Swifties faced heightened security at Wembley Stadium. Those without tickets were not allowed to stand outside of the venue as a result of tightened security.

"London plays host to a significant number of very high profile events each year with millions of visitors having a safe and enjoyable experience," a spokesperson for the London Metropolitan Police told CNN in a statement on Tuesday.

"There is nothing to indicate that the matters being investigated by the Austrian authorities will have an impact on upcoming events here in London," they continued.

"As always, we will continue to keep any new information under careful review."

Wembley Stadium explained on their official website that the venue will "collaborate closely" with police, the Safety Advisory Group and relevant authorities "to ensure that the stadium's security protocols meet the highest standards."
