'Bachelor in Paradise' star Tara Pavlovic breaks silence on why she and Sam Cochrane split

Bachelor in Paradise star Tara Pavlovic is spilling the tea a month after splitting up with Sam Cochrane.

On Wednesday, Tara told the Daily Mail that the relationship quickly became toxic after Sam proposed during the finale earlier this year. (It was filmed at the end of last year.)

The Queensland reality star said Sam actually initiated the breakup.

"Sam left me after a fight thinking I would beg for him back -- he always threatened to leave and played games," Tara said. "But this time I told him to never speak to me again and then he begged for me back for weeks."

She told the publication Sam would insult her.

"He would always say to me I needed someone who was 'dumb with no feelings', that he was too smart and deep for me," she said.

And on Thursday, Tara told the Daily Telegraph that they were both unhappy in the relationship.

"We were not good for each other," she said. "We were both the worst versions of ourselves -- it was just a bad situation. Sam was great in holiday mode and we had a good time but the real world was a totally different story and he is not someone I could see myself settling down with long-term."

Sam and Tara confirmed their split five weeks ago, via lengthy statements on Instagram.

Sam wrote that his heart was "broken."

"Watching something you valued fall apart and what you love follow a different path is one of the most difficult things," he said at the time.

Tara's statement, shared to her Instagram Story, confirmed that their feelings for each other were real when they filmed the show, but also hinted that Sam may have been in the wrong when she said, "Everything happens for a reason and I'm sure this will all make more sense down the track."
