Steve 'Commando' Willis rips into local magazine for 'mean, hurtful, upsetting, mischievous and destructive' article

Steve Willis aka Commando Steve has posted a lengthy statement on Instagram responding to a local magazine's claims that he and partner Michelle Bridges are going through 'love hell.'

The publication Willis, 42, was referring to was New Idea, in particular the cover line on the latest issue that read 'Michelle's love hell: Commando walks out.'

"This post has come with great consideration," the personal trainer and TV personality started. "After much reflection I have decided to post in response to an article that is mean, hurtful, upsetting, mischievous and destructive. It saddens and hurts me greatly that @newideamagazine and those who are behind such an article knowingly and intentionally go out of their way to tear down, bully and create disharmony within my family and loved ones but within the very fabric of Australian society."

He continued, "There is already enough discontent, anger, jealously and grievances being perpetuated in this world."

Willis, who has three children from two previous relationships and a 2-year-old son named Axel with Bridges, also said that he hoped by posting his message, it would lead to "peace and kindness."

"I see this as the perfect opportunity to do things differently, for each and everyone one of us, sisters, brothers and kin to band together, and go about diligent work that reinforces connections, community and values to enable us to share the burdens and suffering that we all know to [sic] well," he wrote.

"We need to connect and stop tearing each other down. We cannot demand anything of another, we can only be it. If we want peace and kindness, be peace and kindness in everything we do, every interaction we have. Learn to create space and strength from within so we have the courage to serve and contribute to one another."

Bridges reposted the thing to her Instagram account.

Willis' emotional statement drew praise from his fans. "Wow! What an unreal, raw and absolute true post you've provided," one person wrote on the former Biggest Loser trainer's post.

"I take these stories with a grain of salt. They write what sells. Go forth and conquer," said another.

Willis is currently back on the small screen as part of Australian Survivor, and in an interview with the Daily Telegraph he joked that his 47-year-old partner, Bridges, had one condition for him going on the show: "No cuddling."

Aside from that, she was nothing but supportive. "She was like, 'If you commit to this, just do your best babe, be yourself, be true to you and you've got my support, just enjoy the experience.'"
