ARIAs 2018: Sophie Monk's new boyfriend has got her dad's approval

Sophie Monk recently went public with her new relationship, and the 38-year-old's dad very much approves of the TV star's new man.

Sophie brought her father, Andrew Monk, as her date to the 2018 ARIA Awards on Wednesday evening, and the 72-year-old revealed that he's very happy for his daughter.

When asked by a Daily Telegraph reporter if he thought Joshua Gross and Sophie were "going to last", Andrew said, "I think so."

"He is a really nice chap, a nice person, very kind and we get on very well," Andrew said. "I am very grateful for that."

Sophie and Joshua met just five months months ago while on a flight from Europe, and the pair even shared a kiss before touching down.

Joshua is based in the United States, so the pair have been dating long distance 

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph last weekend, the Love Island Australia host revealed that the only thing standing in their way is his previous relationship. 

"When his divorce goes through we are talking about getting married," she told the publication, adding that she's keen to tie the knot, "on the Gold Coast in my back garden" surrounded by close friends and family. 

"I have waited and gone through so much s--- to meet someone so good," she said.
