Shannen Doherty reveals wishes for her funeral as cancer battle continues

Shannen Doherty has revealed her somewhat unconventional funeral plans for her ashes amid an ongoing battle with terminal stage four breast cancer.

Speaking on her podcast Let's Be Clearthe Charmed star, 52, told her will executor Chris Cortazzo she wants her remains "mixed" with those of her dad and her dog.

"I want to be mixed with my dog and I want it to be mixed with my dad. I do not want to be buried and not cremated," she told Cortazzo.

Additionally, the actress considered having some of her ashes used to "grow a tree" and said Cortazzo, who is also her friend, could have some for a necklace.

But the "morbid" and "fun" funeral conversation didn't stop there. Doherty hilariously moved on to discuss the "way too long" list of people she doesn't want in attendance.

"There's a lot of people that I think would show up that I don't want there," the TV star confessed to Cortazzo.

Doherty explained she didn't want those people at her funeral "because their reasons for showing up aren't necessarily the best reasons."

"They don't really like me and, you know, they have their reasons and good for them, but they don't actually really like me enough to show up to my funeral."

The actress said while those people will show up to be "politically correct", she wants her end of life celebration to be a "love fest."

"I don't want people to be crying or people to privately be like, 'Thank God that b---h is dead now," she jokingly said, later adding that she "abhor[s] fakeness."

Doherty was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015.

After going into remission two years after her initial diagnosis, the star sadly announced in 2020 that the cancer had returned and progressed to stage four.

At the start of 2024, Doherty spoke on her podcast about her hopes that treatment advances will help extend her life.

"You and I always talk about the fact that we just need to squeeze out another three to five years, and then there's going to be T-cell therapy or there's going to be this or that," the actress said to her oncologist Dr. Lawrence Piro on the podcast episode.
