Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins' dad says Alec Baldwin is 'partly responsible' for fatal shooting

The father of Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins' has slammed Alec Baldwin for not taking responsibility for the death of his daughter.

In an interview with The Sun, Anatoly Androsovych said the actor is "partially responsible" for Hutchins' death when he reportedly fired a gun on the New Mexico set during filming.

"It is clear to me Baldwin fired the shot from his hand so it's hard for me to understand how he cannot be held partly responsible for my daughter's death," Androsovych told the outlet. "I can't understand the behaviour of Alec."

"The revolver is the type of gun which doesn't shoot before the trigger is pressed and Alec is partially guilty for causing that shot," Androsovych added.

The grieving father's comments come weeks after Baldwin claimed in an interview with US network ABC that the gun that killed 42-year-old Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza went off without him pulling the trigger.

Baldwin, who was holding a gun he was told was safe when it went off, spoke in his first full interview about the October 21 shooting in New Mexico.

"There's only one question to be resolved, and that's where did the live round come from? The trigger wasn't pulled. I didn't pull the trigger," the actor told ABC journalist George Stephanopoulos. "I would never point a gun at anyone and pull a trigger at them. Never."

"Someone is responsible for what happened, and I can't say who that is, but it's not me," he added. "Honest to god, if I felt I was responsible, I might have killed myself."

However, weapons expert Steve Wolf has since responded to the ABC interview, saying the account is "not plausible". The police investigation into the accidental shooting continues.
