Rebel Wilson reveals personal tragedy with photo shared to millions

Rebel Wilson has been struck with personal tragedy during one of the happiest times of her life.

Two months after tying the knot with Ramona Agruma, 40, in Sardinia, Italy, Wilson shared some heartbreaking news with her 11.1 million Instagram followers.

At the age of 97, her grandfather has died.

Alongside a photo of herself cheek-to-cheek with her grandfather, Wilson, 44, wrote on her Instagram Story on the weekend: "RIP Poppy – 97 years young. The best grandpa!"

Just hours earlier, she had taken to the same app with a heartwarming message about her family.

"Happy Thanksgiving everyone 🥰 so grateful and lucky to have such an awesome family! Love you all so much 😘," Wilson wrote alongside a series of snaps of herself, Agruma, her two-year-old daughter Royce Lillian, and her family.

The post also included a photo of Wilson and Royce the Pitch Perfect star's lavish wedding in September.

It had been a year of highs for Wilson, who in November marked her daughter's second birthday with, of course, a celebratory trip to Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California.

"Can't believe our little Royce Lillian is already 2! We took her to Disneyland, her first ride was DUMBO, when she saw the big castle she just said 'cool!'," Wilson wrote on Instagram alongside snaps from the day.

Wilson's post continued: "Her favourite show is MASHA & THE BEAR. She loves dancing, especially to classical music. And loves going to the park EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!"

It was a phone call to Disney CEO Bob Iger in 2022 that saw Wilson given the OK to get down on one knee and ask Agruma to marry her at the popular theme park.

"He's the big, big boss. And I thought, well, if he says yes, then it was meant to be, and I was meant to propose that day at Disneyland," Wilson said on The Drew Barrymore Show after her proposal.

"I had to get special permission to get a special area roped off and get the topiary trees in, and you know I had a violinist playing like Disney classics, and it was really romantic. I did go to the big boss to get permission," Wilson, who is notorious for her love of the House of Mickey Mouse, continued.

The actress' year has also come with the release of her memoir, Rebel Rising, which was delayed in Australia and the United Kingdom due to allegations made against Sacha Baron Cohen, which he denied.

She also debuted The Deb, the first film she directed, at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival in September.
