Pia Miller lands Hollywood break with role in 'Dora the Explorer' live-action film opposite Eva Longoria

Just three months ago, Pia Miller said she would jump at the chance to try her luck in Hollywood.

"If Hollywood calls, I might just [go]," she admitted on the TODAY show in August. Well, she did get a phone call and now the Bite Club star is set to star in the live-action adaptation of the kids' cartoon, Dora the Explorer.

The 35-year-old actress will play Dora's auntie, who's the mother of Dora's cousin and sidekick, Diego. The movie also stars Eva Longoria as Dora's mum, so Miller and the former Desperate Housewives star will play sisters on the film.

"[I] can confirm Pia Miller as Diego's mother in the film. Diego was played by Jeffrey Wahlberg," a production spokesman said yesterday of Hollywood's new recruits. And yes, 22-year-old Jeffrey is related to Mark Wahlberg -- he's the nephew of the actor.

Meanwhile, when Miller attended the GQ Men of the Year Awards in Sydney last week, she managed to remain coy about her role in the upcoming film, which was filmed on the Gold Coast.

"I have been shooting in Queensland on a feature film," Miller told the Herald Sun, adding that she loves acting on both the big and small screens. "The creative process, whether it comes in the medium of film or TV, I don't mind which one I do."

And it sounds like Miller would handle herself just fine in Hollywood. She's not afraid to stand her ground and isn't too concerned about rumours that she's a diva on set.

"The thing is 'diva' in Spanish has a different connotation -- it actually has a positive connotation to it," the Chilean-born actress told TODAY hosts Karl Stefanovic and Georgie Gardner. "[My mum] said, 'Oh big deal. They call you a diva? Great!' But there's always something to say about people. It's fine by me, we know who we are."
