Paris Hilton set to reveal traumatic childhood experience in upcoming documentary: 'I still have nightmares about it'

Paris Hilton is set to open up about a traumatic childhood experience in her upcoming YouTube Originals documentary, This Is Paris.

In a trailer released on August 17, the socialite-turned-DJ is seen talking about her painful ordeal with sister, Nicky Hilton. 

"Something happened in my childhood that I've never talked about with anyone," an emotional Paris says to Nicky in the clip. "But I couldn't tell you guys, because every time I tried, I would get punished by them."

Nicky sympathises with her big sister, replying, "I just heard screaming, bloody murder."

Paris, 39, did not elaborate on who she was referring to, but she did say the ordeal haunts her to this day. 

"I still have nightmares about it. The only thing that saved my sanity was thinking about who I wanted to become when I got out of there," she said.

"I just created this brand and this persona and this character, and I've been stuck with her ever since."

The trailer also goes behind the scenes of Paris' career, from her days stomping the paparazzi-swamped pavements in LA with bestie Kim Kardashian, to playing DJ sets to sold-out arenas across the globe.

But the Paris fans see in either circumstance is not the real Paris Hilton, she says. 

"I feel like the whole world thinks they know me," she says in a voiceover. "No one really knows who I am... I don't even know who I am sometimes. I didn't used to be that way. I'm so used to like, playing a character, that it's hard for me be normal."

When a producer asks her off-camera is that's enough, she says "no" before becoming emotional. Nicky, 36, also asks her famous sister if she's happy, with Paris giving a surprising answer.
