'Best thing in the Olympics': Adele pauses show to discuss Aussie Olympic breakdancer Raygun

Adele has crowned viral Aussie breakdancer Raygun as the "best thing in the Olympics".

The superstar paused her Munich show to ask the crowd if they'd seen the homegrown athlete's memorable performance in Paris which has taken the internet by storm.

"I have to ask you, because it's all me and my friends have been talking about last night after the show and today," she addressed the crowd in a fan-captured video posted to X (formerly Twitter).

"I think it's the best thing that's happened in the Olympics the entire time. Did anyone see the breakdancing lady?" Adele said to an eruption of cheers from the audience.

"Now I didn't know that breakdancing was even an Olympic sport these days. I think that's f----ng fantastic. I really, really do."

After asking members of her band members if they'd seen Raygun's dancing from the Olympics, the singer admitted the whole thing had overall made her "very, very happy".

"It's my favourite thing that's happened in the Olympics this whole, whole time," the singer concluded, encouraging concertgoers to go watch it if they hadn't after her show.

"Queens respecting Queens," one person commented under the clip.

Aussie breakdancer Raygun, who's real name is Rachael Gunn, became a breakout star of the Olympics for her memorable and unique dance moves on the world stage – including an iconic kangaroo hop as an ode to Australia.

Gunn represented the country at the first ever Olympics breakdancing event in Paris. Though she was unsuccessful in securing a medal, she's gained worldwide traction.

Along with being a B-Girl, Gunn also has a PhD in breaking.

The athlete spoke to 9honey Coach a month before her Olympic debut about her preparation and anticipation for the event.

"It's really exciting to have this platform... it's not just myself, it's all the other women around the world that are going to be competing," she says.

"And I'm really excited about the potential to inspire a whole lot of other people to get into breaking," she adds.
