Jamie Lee Curtis becomes first in high-profile Hollywood family to secure an Oscar win

Proud nepo baby Jamie Lee Curtis has won her first ever Oscar, becoming the first member of her high-profile family to do so.

The 64-year-old Halloween star took out the golden statuette for Best Supporting Actress, securing Everything Everywhere All at Once its second win in a matter of minutes, following Ke Huy Quan's Best Supporting Actor win.

In her speech, Curtis – whose career has spanned nearly five decades – thanked fans for their ongoing support, and also gave a shout-out to her late parents.

"I know it looks like I'm standing up here by myself but I am not, I am hundreds of people. I'm hundreds of people. Where are the Daniels?" Curtis asked in her emotional acceptance speech.

"To all the people who have supported the genre movies that I've made for these years, the thousands and hundreds of thousands of people, we just won an Oscar together!" she continued.

At this stage, Curtis, who had also thanked her husband Christopher Guest and their two daughters, looked upwards through tears, and addressed her late parents, actors Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis.

A tearful Curtis said: "And to my mother and my father, who were both nominated for Oscars in different categories – I just won an Oscar!"

She then held out her arms and made her way backstage towards the press room, Oscar in-hand.

This year marked not only Curtis' first Oscars win, but also her first ever nomination.

Her parents were both also nominated once each, but did not win. Janet Leigh, who died in 2004 aged 77, was nominated for Best Supporting Actress – the same category as her daughter decades later – in 1960 for her role in Psycho.

Tony Curtis, meanwhile, was nominated for Best Actor in 1959 for his role in The Defiant Ones. He died in 2010, aged 85.

Curtis' win comes after she nabbed the SAG Award for Best Supporting Actress in February, which followed a slew of other nominations for her role as IRS agent Deirdre Beaubeirdre, including a Golden Globe, a BAFTA, and an Independent Spirit Award.
