Al Pacino and Noor Alfallah quietly welcomed their baby son nine months ago, and now the new mum is speaking out.

The 30-year-old producer – who has largely remained silent about her relationship with the 83-year-old Scarface star – revealed this week to Vogue Arabia that prior to giving birth to Roman in June, she was diagnosed with a rare, life-threatening condition.

It meant Alfallah was unable to be alone with her newborn son for a few days after his birth as there were fears she would have a seizure.

"When I look back on it now," Alfallah, who was not only adapting to being a mother for the first time but also dealing with media attention surrounding her relationship with Pacino, told the publication.

"I wish I could have enjoyed my pregnancy more."

Alfallah had already been through a major health battle before her pre-delivery diagnosis.

In 2021, she was diagnosed with a parathyroid tumour, so when she learned she was pregnant, she was aware it was likely going to be a high-risk pregnancy. And she was right.

Just before she gave birth, Alfallah was diagnosed with HELLP Syndrome, which is a serious, life-threatening complication of high blood pressure during pregnancy.

According to Cleveland Clinic, HELLP Syndrome is a type of pre-eclampsia, which usually occurs from the 37th week of pregnancy, but can also develop in the first week following childbirth. It's characterised by high liver enzymes, which can cause seizures.

For Alfallah, her diagnosis meant not only was she unable to be left with Roman unattended, but she also was "hooked up to bags of magnesium" and in a "panic over her low platelet count".

Roman is Pacino and Alfallah's first child together, and Pacino's fourth child overall.

The Oscar winner is also a father to 34-year-old daughter Julie, and 23-year-old twins Anton and Olivia, from previous relationships.

Alfallah also opened up about the first time she met Pacino in the interview.

"I thought it was cool," she told the publication. "I thought, 'Wow, that's Al Pacino'. I went to film school, so I wasn't dumb about who he was. He's a very talented and unique person. But I had no intention of thinking like, 'Oh, he is going to be my son's father one day'."

She said after their first meeting, the future couple – who were first romantically linked in April 2022 – didn't see each other for a whole year.

They then ran into each other at a restaurant, and went on to develop a friendship as they watched movies together and spent time with each other during the pandemic.

'I guess, it just became something more," Alfallah said.
