Nicole Scherzinger and her bandmates developed a reputation for their provocative ensembles as much as for their impressive feats on-stage when performing as The Pussycat Dolls.

But more than a decade after their split, Scherzinger has revealed she was never a fan of the girl group's famously risqué outfits.

"I just wasn't comfortable wearing those clothes," the lead singer, 46, told Vogue in a new interview.

"I was a singer first, always. I think over time, I was able to find my own style," she said.

"Real strength is loving yourself, embracing yourself... that's the beauty of getting older. Life happens, and things are put into perspective, and you realise what's most important."

Scherzinger recently spoke to Us Weekly about her "whirlwind" experience in The Pussycat Dolls and reflected on her experience briefly reuniting with the group in 2020 for their first single in a decade, React, a performance on The X Factor.

"I was mostly proud because of the women that we had evolved into," Scherzinger reflected to the outlet of the band's reunion after their 2010 split.

"That we could come together and say, 'Wow, life is so much bigger than petty things'... And that growth as women, of coming together and being supportive of each other – I think that's what made me the most happy, that we could do that."
