Former AFLW player Moana Hope announces pregnancy: 'Building our own little football team'

Former AFL Women's player Moana Hope has announced that she and her wife, model Isabella Carlstrom, are expecting baby number two.

Announcing the happy news via Instagram, the 33-year-old shared a series of black and white images of herself holding a sonogram, Carlstrom holding their one-year-old daughter Svea Hope Carlstrom, and Hope's sister Vinnie.

"I'm pregnant… we're pregnant🤰🏽🎊," Hope wrote alongside the images. "2022 our little modern family will grow by one tiny human. Building our own little football team 🤣"

She then revealed that the new baby shares the same donor as Svea, who was also conceived via IVF.

"We are using the same donor as Svea and we are all beyond excited. Not even the morning sickness can damper this mood," Hope said.

"Thank you for making this possible @monashivf 🙏🏽❤️"

Carlstrom also shared a series of images to her Instagram, celebrating the fact that the family of three will soon be a family of four.

"My beautiful wife is pregnant!" Carlstrom wrote.

"It's so exciting to share this journey with you @moanahope Here we go folks round 2! 🤰🏽."

"Neither Mo's pregnancy nor Bella's with Svea would be possible without the generosity of their sperm donor," Hope's fertility specialist at Monash IVF Dr Gareth Weston said in a statement to 9Honey Celebrity.

"You only have to look at the smiles on the faces of the same-sex couples we help to become parents to appreciate just how life-changing sperm donation really is and why we need more people to donate."

Carlstrom carried baby Svea, who was born on November 17, 2020.

In October, Hope revealed that it was "her turn" to carry now, and that the couple were looking forward to adding another baby to their brood.

"I wanted kids my whole life," Hope told 9Honey Parenting. "I literally don't know what I did before I became a mum.

"I feel like my book is starting now. These are the chapters I've waited my whole life to write."

Hope said that although she wants "a lot of kids," she'll "settle with three."

Of Svea's birth, she revealed that she got to pull her little girl from Carlstrom: "I was literally crying, and in that moment.. everything in my heart said, 'You are going to protect and love this little one', and ever since then that hasn't changed and never will."
